What to Wear
a handy dandy guide for lookin' good in any session

1. The first and most important rule: Be YOU.
It's important to be comfortable. If you're wearing something that is unusual for you or out of your comfort zone, there's a good chance that will show in the pictures. We want to capture you, your family, and your special moments as they really are. Be yourself! Choose colors and textures that you enjoy.

2. Don't be afraid of color!
Adding fun colors through your clothing can really make a photo POP! If wearing a bright colors feels a bit too bold for ya, think about adding small touches, such as a scarf or a cardigan.

3. Don't worry about coordinating outfits.
Matchy-matchy is out! Our advice is to pick an outfit you love and get the others to coordinate around it. The colors don't need to be the same, but keeping things in the same color pallet can help make the matching easier.

4. Keep your posing, and the weather, in mind.
For example, don't wear a short dress on a windy day (unless you're looking to channel the infamous Marilyn Monroe). Bring an extra pair of shoes to an outdoor shoot if it rained the night before and you're rocking flip flops. Bring an extra cardigan or two if it seems a bit chilly. A little prepping can help make things much more comfortable,

5. Layers in an outfit can add texture and depth. Plus, it's just plain fun.
Consider all the accessories you can add to your outfit: necklaces, earrings, bracelets, scarves, hats, headbands, bows, belts, fun shoes, etc. Guys aren't in to it? They can layer with things like vests, jackets, ties.

6. If this is a rare & special occasion, treat it like one!
Getting your picture taken professionally isn't the kind of thing you do every day, or maybe even every year. Getting a few new pieces of clothing for the session, getting a manicure, or having your makeup done professionally can be a good idea. It's great to feel confident and beautiful, and we want you to arrive feeling that way & leave loving your photos.

7. Don't overthink it.
If you panic about matching outfits, getting the kids to cooperate, or covering up areas you feel self-conscious about, you're not going to enjoy the experience. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible. It's all about capturing you and your memories. Let's keep this fun!
